I have received an award from
His Majesty the Emperor.
天皇陛下より褒章を戴きました
I have been striving to make contributions to society through my unique artwork, conducting creative activities and workshops, and donating a large portion of the profits from sales for over 30 years to support children living in difficult environments. This achievement was evaluated, and in April of the 2024, I was awarded the medal of honor with blue ribbon by His Majesty the Emperor.
長年にわたりアートワークで途上国の子供たちを支援してきた
実績をご評価戴き、陛下より紺綬褒章を頂戴いたしました。
自分にしかできないアートワークで社会貢献を目指し、
創作活動、ワークショップを開催。その収益の多くを私財として
30余年にわたり寄付、困難な環境に生きる子供たちの
支援活動を実施してきました。
その実績が評価され、令和六年四月春、紺綬褒章を授章致しました。

With profits from Kintsugi, I supported improving the working conditions of children working in gold mines in Burkina Faso (Africa). I also supported repairing school bags, abandoned bicycles and gave them to children in Afghanistan.
With profits from pottery, I supported improvements in the environment, which lead to early marriage for girls; and vocational education for young people in developing countries such as Vietnam and Senegal.
In relief supplies, I provided vaccines (polio, measles, etc.) for more than 21,000 children, 10,000 tablets of water purifiers, over 2000 tablets of micronutrient powders, deworming tablets, anti-malaria drugs, and more.
・金継ぎではブルキナファソ金鉱山（アフリカ）で働く
子供たちの労働環境改善への取り組み支援。
ランドセルや放置自転車等を修理し（リサイクル）
アフガニスタンの子供たちに贈る活動を支援。
・陶芸ではベトナムやセネガル、途上国の若者たちの
職能教育支援。女の子たちの早すぎる結婚など環境改善を支援。
・物資支援では2万1千人を超える子供たちへのワクチン
（ポリオやはしか等）、1万錠の浄水剤、微量栄養素パウダーや
虫下し錠、抗マラリヤ薬など、2千錠を超える多種多様な
物資の供与を支援。
I donated my personal funds earned from my artwork income, and saved the lives of many children, and gave many possibilities to children living in difficult environments.
I was informed about the award from the Japan UNICEF Association, “We have received a call from the Cabinet Office Decoration Bureau and they said that at next week’s cabinet meeting,they will decide to decorate you with the medal of honor with blue ribbon. Congratulations.” When I heard this, I couldn’t believe it. I have heard and seen the spring and autumn awards and decorations on the news, but I thought it had nothing to do with me.
After hanging up the phone,I was filled
with joy. That what I had been doing for 30 years has been recognized in this way was indescribable.
I am grateful to my family and everyone who has supported me to earn this award.
アートワーク収入から得た私財を寄付し、数多くの子供たちの
命を救い、また困難な環境に生きる子供たちに
多くの可能性を贈ってきました。
日本ユニセフ協会から「内閣府賞勲局から連絡があり、
貴殿の紺綬褒章の叙勲が来週の閣議で決定されるそうです。
この度は誠におめでとうございます。」
授章の報せを受けた時は、まさか自分がと耳を疑った。
春秋の叙勲褒章はニュースなどで見聞きしたことはあったが、
自分とは関係のない世界の事と思っていた。
電話を切った後、喜びが込み上げてきた。
30年続けてきたことが、一定の評価を戴き、
一つの形となった事は言葉にはし尽せないものがあった。
このように身に余る栄誉を戴けた事は家族をはじめ、
未熟な私をサポートして下さった、皆さんのお陰だと
感謝しております。
I will continue to strive, creating the most unique artworks, and to make contributions in the most unique way, and aim to be the ceramist who saves the most children’s lives in the world.
これからも変わらず、研鑽を積み、
世界一自分らしいアートワークで、
世界一自分らしい社会貢献を創発し、
世界一子供たちの命を救う陶芸家を目指します。
